..red tide rising..

October 31st, 2006 · 8 Comments

Assalamualaikum to all brothers and sisters. It seems that it has been almost a month or so since I dedicated myself to kakiblog and share my ideas. Student life is always tough, no matter at chilling.. what place you live in. In my second home, the post-communist Russia is moving very well towards globalisation, and thus providing ample opportunity to foreigners studying here and businessmen looking for more than just Russian oil and resources.Living here in Moscow for almost a year here, taught me much about life in a foreign country. But I think I’ve already commented about that in my previous posts, heh. My Hari Raya Aidil Fitri here in Moscow was celebrated moderately,as our university was kind enough to grant us Monday and Tuesday as off days for us Malaysians. We had our Eid Mubarak on Monday, and performed our prayers at the Malaysian Embassy.I was kind of late for the prayers, and had to settle for the khutbah.

Nothing much happened there, just a jamuan kecil, then I met fellow kakiblogger Cyzrael and had a little chat.I took a picturemoscow metro.. with the first Malaysian astronaut-to-be,err,well,I forgot his name though..The picture taking spree continued when I took pictures with my fellow friends,as,well, these kind of occasions doesnt happen everyday here in Moscow, especially to meet fellow Malaysians from other universities.Returning home,I went straight to the Uni library to borrow some Anatomy text books which was now available.I had to be fast because they’re not enough for all the first year students here.Everything here is about pace and chances. If your not quick enough, you’ll be left behind.Everyone here walks fast,in the metro,in the uni, even when I stroll around the shopping complexes, unlike in Malaysia where everyone is walking at a slow pace, enjoying the taste of life.

After some absurd results and embarassing moments,Liverpool finally has found their old self again, albeit at a high price.Losing the last battle against fierce rivafinally, some relief..ls Man Utd has left many Liverpool fans feeling hopeless and hapless.Reds’ manager Rafa Benitez has surely tinkered the squad too much when he rotates almost everyone in the team save the error-prone goalkeeper.Maybe it was down to the young age of the squad, the new rookie center backs Daniel Agger and Gabriel Paletta surely need more time to gel and also big signings such as speed demon Craig Bellamy and Dutch master Dirk Kuyt must show value for money soon to escape sceptisms. At last they did won 4-3 ,albeit against lowly newcomers Reading, who where unlucky not to make the game 4-4.Form is temporary, quality is permanent,as was shown by the captain of that day,Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler, who himself scored a goal that day.Although it was only in the early round of the Carling Cup,but I felt rejuvenated enough to be proud being called a Liverpool fan.Cheers to our days to come.

Globalization in Russia? Putin’s leadership is still very authoritarian though…

Anyway, what’s the popular culture like amongst malays in Russia?

Hehe. Despite asking about globalization, raya or expressing my proud to our Malaysians astronaut-to-be, I would like to know how come Rafa Benitez would use Steven Gerard at the right flank and with Momo Sissoko act as the heart of midfield. It’s really weird, but still can be considered as a very strong tactic with Xabi Alonso at the center and Mark Gonzalez at the left. But Steven Gerard is very good in crossing and he is very mobile too. He can hold a free role on the pitch.

Best of Luck to Liverpool for the match against Bordeaux tomorrow!

Well,Benitez has been really fair to other Liverpool players, while everyone expects atleast one start in any game. This can only mean that he expects to utilise Liverpool’s fitness for the long season to come. While it is really awkward seeing Gerrard on the right flank, but since he’s effective for the squad, why not?Last season,he was also mostly used on the right flank, producing 15 or so goals and creating many more.

Well, lets just say that Putin uses a modern Russian dictatorian approach, making himself looking like the protector-figure and all.He is very popular in Russia and even grants wishes to any Russian who calls him during his annual TV talk show. But to me,he’s like any other politician in the world.

This is my second Eid Mubarak celebrated here, and nothing changes much. The Malays here,or I should say,any other Malaysian here doesnt mix much with the Russians, with the language barrier et all.But I have to say, their habit of frequently skipping classes is much to worry about.

Popular cuture among Russian teens? Clubbing, smoking, drinking and parties! They enjoy their life.

Other than that they are really fanatic with their local football team namely CSKA, and all the local district football team. ( Moscow made up from several district ).

    How fanatic they can be?

Well, if u are unlucky bumping into these fanaticans in the metro or something, and at the same time their favorite team lost, the probability for u to get beaten up is really high. Their simply love beating foreigners especially when they have a reason for it.

A smart advice, just stay out of trouble.

    salam,

Eid in Manchester is spliced with lectures and PBL discussion sessions in-between. Raya tetap raya, jihad tetap jihad.

They won’t let us have holidays for Eid. They won’t allow a Muslim brother to change his anatomy class to Monday so that he can pray his Juma’at prayer. How’s that in a free country?

    meow~

Wow. 3-0. Lots of lots of goals from Liverpool.

Tumpang gembira, walaupun Chelsea seri dengan Barca 2-2. Yeah, 10 yellow cards. Great.
