“I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God. And that’s what we need to do, is to amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards, rather than try to change God’s standards.”
If that was reported in Malay language by, say Utusan, I could have easily thought it came from the mouth of Haji Hadi.
But no, it’s Mike Huckabee. The surprise package of recent primaries, winning Iowa and coming in third for both New Hampshire and Michigan primaries. That’s impressive considering they haven’t turned to the Bible belt yet.
The Huckabee phenomenon is different from neo-conservatism, mind you.
So who says religion is dead?
And what happened to Ron Paul?
John Voll in Islam: Continuity and Change already proved wrong Bernard Lewis’ The Failure of Islam.
Are we now seeing Emma Goldman falling by the wayside?
Good-bye modernity. Long ago.
And to post-modernity; it is deconstructing and redefining itself!

I think Mike Huckabee is the greatest presidential candidate I’ve seen. I’d sooner have a person willing to stand up for the constitution and change it for the better than ot let it degenerate into aquivering mass of legal conjecture and disdain.
I live in a great country where we can discuss theis stuff without violence and retribution. Those of you who are violent and retributive, TAKE NOTE AMERICA IS A DECENT NATION IF WE LET IT!

ron paul might not do well in the previous elections but that doesnt mean his ideas n words are less powerful than huck.
huck supporters consist only of evangelicals. even his many speeches were conducted in places where evangelicals sentiments are strong.
on the other hand, u have RP whose messages reaches everybody. students, workers, GOPs, democrats, independents, men, women white, black, hispanics, muslims, christians.
from what i observed, americans are twisted by media propaganda. they dont know where their roots are anymore.
the GOP presidential debate are more like a beauty pageant rather than a debate. everybody but RP wants to get to bush good side. dont rely on resources from tv or newspaper. they dont even want to mention RP. go watch the debate on youtube and think.
lastly, although i’m pretty sure RP wont win this time but i believe his message will soon materialize. there’s a lot of young people who’s inspired by RP. although GOPs current leadership are rotten, i do expect it to undergone serious reformation and reconstruction in the future.

You somewhat missed out the point of this article. The intent of this entry is not political campaigning in the sense of making value-judgments. It’s more of a detached observation of political trends in general.
Also, you’re making a lot of broad sweeping statements there. Firstly, Huckabee’s supporters are not just evangelicals - you can safely say it belongs in the domain of all Republican candidates, especially McCain. And you can’t say he’s a neo-conservative to explain his success. Just look at his scanty resources. These generalizations demonstrate a failure to appreciate the subtleties of each candidate’s position.
And it’s absurd to claim RP’s message reaches out to everybody. From your point of view it is. But not the majority of others. That’s why he’s barely reaching 10% of votes.
