Guli Kaca

August 25th, 2007 · 2 Comments

guli kaca
jernih
dalamnya ombak yang kaku
pelangi yang tertangkap
pernah lihat dakwat
pekat yang
menitis dalam air secawan
menari sebelum melarut
guli kaca
keras
dihempas ia melantun
meninggi lagi
walaupun retak
walaupun sompek
ombak yang kaku
pelangi yang tertangkap
kacanya pudar
warnanya terus.
aku tidak pernah lihat
guli yang pecah.

A Take on Feminism?

August 24th, 2007 · 3 Comments

salaam.
I found it pretty funny that certain groups of feminists seem to equate being male with being powerful, anything manly as something positive and to be striven for. Hence their struggle to turn females into males, in looks, occupation, carriage, personality, thinking, career, and everything under the sun, and call this ‘conversion’ success. Women who [...]

EXTREME MEDICINE (III) - Humility, Practicality, Obligation and Universal Compassion

June 24th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Assalamualaikum.
The third part of my ‘Extreme Medicine’ series. Feels like such a long time has passed since my last entry on this, I hardly knew where to begin! Well, most of this entry is based on what I remembered - and understood - of Dr Heng Aik Cheng’s speech. Really, what an impressive man.
He was [...]

Assalamualaikum, and a very good -whatevertimeofthedayitis -to all of you ppl.
It’s 4.12 a.m. now, and I just felt like I cannot abstain anymore from writing despite a halfhearted attempt to do so, with the justification of exams around the corner. I’m going to continue with Extreme Medicine, insyaAllah. Continuing with the technical aspects of [...]

Recently - erm, not-so-recently, to be accurate on the past 31 March and 1 April, I had attended the IMAM (Islamic Medical Association of Malaysia) UK-Eire Symposium on Islamic Medicine. The main venue for the event was Postgraduate Centre, Manchester Royal Infirmary, [...]

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

Holy is He Who carried His servant by night from the Holy Mosque (in Makkah) to the farther Mosque (Masjidil Aqsa)(in Jerusalem) whose surroundings We have blessed that We might show him some of Our Signs. Indeed He alone is All-Hearing, All-Seeing. [17:1]

Asobiyyah - Satu Perspektif

December 31st, 2006 · 10 Comments

assalamu’alaykum.

1984, HUMANITY AND FAITH

December 8th, 2006 · 4 Comments

Salam ‘alaik,Have you guys read 1984, classic by George Orwell, the renowned author of the satire “Animal Farm”? It’s his last work before he died, basically expounding on the theme of a dystopian future that is controlled by a totalitarian regime. 1984 is, by far, one of the most poignant, thought-provoking novels that i had [...]

Face Veil: Innovated or Obligatory? - YUSUF AL-QARDHAWI

December 6th, 2006 · 11 Comments

Question:
There are some people circulating that niqab (face veil) is bid`ah (an innovation in religion) and that the women wearing it may therefore be sinful. We know that you maintain that hijab (head cover) is obligatory for Muslim women to wear. But do you support the opinion that niqab is bid`ah? And is it permissible, [...]

ON NIQAAB AND NIQAABIS

November 26th, 2006 · 7 Comments

No beating about the bush. This issue is quite a ‘hot’ one around me. I’m looking at it, both as an insider and an outsider. An insider, because I’m a Muslim and sisters around me are directly involved in this issue. Yes, there are also Malay-Muslim sisters who wear the niqaab, though not on every [...]
